Usually made of wool, fleece, or a lightweight material in 'stable colours'. Dress Sheets are show blankets designed to keep a horse warm and dry, or cool and insect-free, before and after competitions. They may have fancy hip decorations ('frogs') and are often embroidered with the horse or owner's name.

Stable sheets are made of cotton or synthetic materials and are worn in the stable to keep a horse clean and warm in cool temperatures. They are also used as layers with other blankets for turnout or when the weather is very cold.

Stable blankets are lined versions of stable sheets that are worn in the stall to keep a horse warm in colder temperatures. They come in a large selection of materials and degrees of warmth.

Blankets, coolers and hoods containing  Liquid Titanium, Ceramics, or Magnets are believed to have a therapeutic effect on the muscles and other physiology of the horse

Coolers are simple blankets used when a horse is hot or wet to help prevent chilled muscles while he cools down after exercise. They may be made of fleece, knitted cotton, or a variety of high-tech fabrics.

Square Coolers are untailored blankets thrown over the horse after exercise to prevent chilled muscles, or to keep a horse warm and dry while waiting to perform.

'Turnouts' are lined, waterproof and (usually) breathable blankets worn by  the horse outdoors during colder weather. They are generally made of tough materials and are fastened to avoid shifting when the horse rolls or runs around.

Unlined waterproof blankets used to keep a horse dry outside. They may be used alone or layered over other blankets in very cold weather.

Quarter sheets cover the horse's back and rump to provide warmth in very cold weather, or on a clipped horse. They are sometimes used just while the horse warms up and cools down, but may also be left on for the whole ride.

Fly sheets, or 'scrims' are used to protect the horse from insects - either in the stable, out in the field, or at competitions. They may also prevent the coat from fading. The type of material used and fastenings depend on the intended use of the blanket.
